I create community engaged performances, both ‘solo’ and with community groups. I love collaborating with other artists. I love to work in response to the site or place of the performance, particularly outdoors.
Earlier this year I facilitated a six-week creative journey as part of my latest, multi-phase body of work Inherit the Wind – a community performance project about the weather. I am currently developing a ‘solo’ performance with accompanying audience score in response to this experience. This will be performed in two sites – on the 12th and 13th June at Helensvale Cultural Centre and on the 20th and 21st June at Kirra Hill.
As part of the development of this piece I am running two free half-day public workshops on May 31st and June 6th. The workshops will be an opportunity to share and explore your experiences of the wonders and worries of weather in a creative, guided and supported process.
I took a creative development of Inherit the Wind to the Melaka Arts and Performance Festival in Malaysia in November 2014. Check the festival out at http://www.melakafestival.com/
My biggest love is improvised performance. I would love to hear from artists (sound, music, installation, theatre, dance…) in the area who are interested in exploring improvisational collaborations – or a cuppa and a chat about our work!
